As an animal lover, I get really excited when exploring different species. Birds have always been something I wanted to study and draw more of, and when I was asked to create a drawing of a bald eagle for a commission piece, I jumped on the chance!
 
I created this colored pencil drawing in about 40 hours. Initially I was going to leave the background white, but after discussing it with the collector, we decided it really needed some type of background to pull it all together. I chose to go with fall colors and created a blurred background as to not take away anything from the focal point of the drawing. I hope you love this artwork!
 
The photo I used came from a reference photo from the website Wildlife Reference Photos where I found an incredible photographer named Dotty Weber. I am so grateful for photographers who allow artists to use their photos for their references. This drawing is all thanks to Dotty!
